形態特徵

• Culms erect, to 13 m tall, 8 cm in diam., green or yellow with a few narrow green stripes; nodes not very prominent; internodes 20-50 cm; walls 2-5 mm thick; branches numerous at each node.
• Sheath of culm usually persistent, coriaceous, hard and brittle, densely red-brown hairy outside, entire; auricles of sheath small with short bristles, slightly reflexed; ligule of sheath narrow, smooth; blade of sheath ovate-triangular, lower surface softly hairy, upper surface glabrous. Leaves 6-10 or more, oblong lanceolate, 20-40 cm long, 3-7 cm broad, green, sometimes with a few white-yellow stripes, acute at apex, cuneate or obtuse at base, densely pubescent beneath, veins 7-11, veinlets 5-7, subtessellate, spinulosescabrous along margins; petiole short; auricles of leaf small with minute bristles, ligule of leaf prominent, smooth; sheath of leaf glabrous.
• Spikelets usually borne at nodes of leafy branchlet; 1-or 2-flowered; glumes 2, broadly ovate, 3-5 mm long, 4-6 mm wide; lemma ovate-lanceolate, 10-12 mm long, veins 15, edges fringed near apex; palea 11-14 mm long, bilobed at apex, minutely hairy, veins 11-13; gynoecium 13 mm long, ovary ovoid, glabrous, with 3 vascular strands seen in cross section; style slender with 3 feathery stigmas; stamens 6, anthers purple, 6 mm long; lodicules 3, ovate, translucent and purplish, 4 mm long, hairy along margins.

• 台灣 : Introduced into Taiwan from the Philippines, planted in the Chiayi Bamboo Garden.
• 世界 : Native of tropical Asia.
